A Great Parade

Oh, the weather was spectactular and Kiddo got so into watching all the stuff that we decided not to actually be in the parade, but rather just watch. Highlights were many but my top two for the day included a group of women and men marching for the Breast Cancer 3-Day. Their happy parade chant: "Gimme a B! Gimme an O! Gimme another O, Gimme a B!"

Nice.

And then, miracle of miracles a troup of teenage bellydancers. These girls ranged in age from maybe 12 to probably 16-ish. Resplendent in not very revealing black bra tops and beautiful skirts and coin belts their beautiful, normal, very un-skinny bellies jiggled and undulated. Captivating. They were gorgeous and healthy and so positive about their bodies. I was actually quite moved. Moved enough to consider taking up a little recreational belly dancing for fun. Perhaps it would help me get over my anxiety over my post-baby, stretched out, jiggly belly. It was quite simply awesome.

Now if only I could locate some free time...

Off in a moment to enjoy the Seattle fireworks from my beautiful friend's beautiful house. One of her friends just spent the last couple of weekends doing her Doula training with none other than the wonderful Penny Simpkin. Am busting to hear the details and rejoice in her excitement as a new Doula. Wicked cool.

Happy days! Happy 230th Birthday America.
