Happiness is...

Lunch in the Adelaide Hills with three midwives, two independent and a recent B.Mid grad. I was so impressed with their approach, they were warm and sharing with their insights into the politics of birth here. It was fab. Was also shown the most amazing set of photographs of a recent local home complete breech waterbirth. Of course it had the local Doc's (and many midwives too I'm sure) fairly terrified. Now they use the photos for teaching... This midwife also is powerfully positive about HBAC's, breech babies and twins. The fact that independant midwives in Australia now practice without any insurance may be quite freeing perhaps?

My client at home reports that her baby is breech too. Except her doc is "allowing" her to try whatever she wants to get the baby to turn, will be attempting an ECV but has scheduled a section date in the meantime. Fingers crossed everyone, please that this little baby cooperates and swings it's little bum up, points his/her head down and accommodates it's mother's wishes for a lovely, intervention free birth.

I am feeling relaxed and calm for what feels like the first time in a while... Missing Husband and Eldest like mad... but enjoying my time anyway.
